About IFIC

The IESE for Impact Community fund is an impact investment vehicle funded and managed by IESE MBA students. It was created for three primary reasons:

  • Impact: supporting businesses driven by an aim to positively impact society.

  • Learning: providing hands-on and valuable experience for IESE MBA students.

  • IESE Mission: to put it into practice, in line with our school’s objective to educate leaders with the highest ethical standards.

How does it work

IFIC is a student-managed fund investing in impact ventures: for-profit organizations where positive social and/or environmental impact is an intentional and integral part of the business model.

We count on the support of IESE faculty and other strategic partners to invest in both direct (subordinated) debt and direct equity, targeting early stage businesses. There is no obligation to invest in an alumni or student company. IFIC aims to invest in ventures where it can make a meaningful contribution to the organizational development and overall positive impact generated. We will leverage the IESE MBA student network and broader community to provide post-investment support and advisory services for investee companies. Along with strategic partners, IFIC also designs short-term consulting projects for MBA students to work with local impact ventures.

IFIC’s capital is raised through donations and the proceedings of its operations are not returned to donors. Instead, all returns on investment will be kept within the fund for future investments and to support the IESE community, growing the donor contribution impact.

How can I participate

The IESE for Impact Community is managed by an annual rotating Board of Directors and falls under the oversight of IESE’s Finance Club and IESE’s Responsible Business Club. All IESE students are encouraged to participate in impact venture consulting projects, fundraising and awareness initiatives. If you are an IESE student and member of the Clubs, contact the Board of Directors to see how you might get involved.

We will fundraise with the IESE MBA students and alumni. In case you want to donate, please contact us at ific@iese.net to make a bank transfer.

Classes of 2020, 2021 and 2022 – stay tuned! We will open up donations soon, so that you can also keep alive this tradition of giving back to society.

Receiving investment

We are continually looking for companies that have a for-profit, mission-driven outlook on achieving a better world through doing business. Alongside positive impact and profitability perspectives, we invest in companies that welcome our students’ support to their management, fostering learning and enriching their MBA experience.

    • We target companies with a proven business model, both profitable and impactful
    • IFIC is also a (super lean) start-up, so we can typically only invest in companies in their early stages
  • We will consider later stage ventures if there is a co-investment opportunity with a strategic impact investment partner

If you believe your company or fund fits our criteria, get in touch! Even if it does not, drop us a message! We are always happy to connect with likeminded individuals and organizations interested in sharing experience and information exchange.
